Current Events-Jean Jacques Rousseau

Today I would be overwhelmed by the overbearing amount of chaos that has amounted in this day and age. Considering the financial crisis, the newly elected president, the wars, and everything else that bombards our society today. In one of my works “The Social Contract” (Gale), I discuss how man and society interact with each other. I argued that the goal of government should be to secure freedom, equality, and justice for all within the state, regardless of the will of the majority.

I would greatly appreciate America and all of its advancements. Because the country is based around beliefs that I would greatly agree with today. I conquer with our democracy today because I thought that rights, happiness, and property would be much better protected under a government system (Gale).  I thought that it is extremely important for government to equal rights and protection to everyone (Hooker).

I believed that a state should allow their people to freedom; as a result I would tolerate gay rights. I believe that man is good in his state of nature, but corrupted in society. Meaning that, man can prefer what ever partner he/she wants without the influence of society bearing him/her down telling them that same sex marriage is not okay or equal to heterosexual couples.

Nebraskan Controversy

Their has also been much controversy over a law that was past about a ‘safe haven law’ stating that it is legal to abandon an infant at a state hospital in Nebraska. This law however has no limit to age. Since this law was past on July 18, 2008 many children have been taken to Nebraska from other states to be abandoned their children (Suddath). I would defiantly support this law because I to abandoned my children after saying that it would be better if I gave them to an adoption center. I think that it is okay for a child to be given to an adoption agency if it is only for the better of them.
